| | Marie's Jewels Marie Archuleta As a child Marie Archuleta had an acute fascination with rocks and beads, collecting them whenever the opportunity presented itself, and she loved to make bead jewelry for friends and family. Marie initially studied the silversmith craft to repair her own jewelry, but soon could not resist the bug to create new pieces. Along with a fascination for Native American silver jewelry and more than a casual interest in precious metals in general, she has combined working in silver, copper and brass with her love for the natural colors and textures of rough and polished stone. Marie also works textiles through a vintage Singer sewing machine from the 40s, crafting handmade, beaded handbags and other fashion accessories. Her use of old buttons and other found items for clasps and detailing gives these modern items just a hint of decades past. |
