Shannyn Snyder
is a crafter and writer who lives in Manassas, Virginia
with her husband and daughter. After working in the
legal industry in administration and marketing for years
and practicing her "craft" on the side, Shannyn finally
had the opportunity to craft as much as she desired
by becoming an at-home mom. Her young daughter crafts
along with her with her own supplies, and Shannyn finds
way to make her crafts to benefit many charities and
volunteer organizations. Her company, Whispering Eden,
LLC was officially born in August of 2001 thanks to
the support of her husband, Jeff, and her products are
featured in several stores in the United States. Whispering
Eden includes bath and body products, decor, vintage
accessories and jewelry made from unusual media.

Statement
Whispering
Eden is a tribute to my daughter, Eden, who makes me
feel young, fun and creative. I started making bath
and body products, initially, so that my daughter could
have products geared towards sensitive skin with natural
bases. I practice recycling packaging and try to make
items using versatile items to make less waste. My gift
items, cards, vintage and Victorian accessories and
baby gifts were such a success at launch that I have
added them, as well as unique jewelry and beaded items
to my handcrafted product line. I believe that every
child deserves to have fun bath products of their own,
that every woman should have unique accessories to accent,
not take over, her natural beauty, and that every house
should be a personalized and intimate haven from life's
daily grind. I believe in being in touch with one's
past and cherishing the memory of yesteryear in jewelry,
bath and home craft.
Technique
Depending on
the craft, my process of work is different. Each starts
with a vision, research and then practice. All of my
products are inspired by a family member or friend.
I work best in the wee hours of the night, in my home
office, with Lifetime Channel or a Jane Austen movie
in play, with candles and incense burning in the window
and the whole neighborhood still. For beading, I start
with a vision of the finished product and a color scheme
and using beautiful and unique products, complete the
item to suit many tastes. For bath and body products,
I start with a clean environment and sterilized containers
and create products that are long-lasting, concentrated
to use less waste and are fun for everyone.
For jewelry and cards,
I use varied media for uniqueness and create projects
that remind me of another era or capture a dream.
